The band is made up of: Singer/songwriter, producer Larry Lee Vannatta (Electric & acoustic guitars, harps, lead vocals) Singer/songwriter Bud Maynard (electric & acoustic bases, vocals) Musical Arrangements Blaine Evans (Mandolin, Spanish guitars) Harmonies arrangements Marina (Mom) Vannatta (keys, vocals) Percussions/writer Larry (Apples) McIntosh (drums, vocals) The history of this band goes back to the early beginning when band leader Larry Lee started up a local band, members at that time included Bud Maynard, Blaine Evans and (Mom) Marina. Bud and Blaine moved to different locals, but carried on their song writing skills. Larry Lee soon after started up the band called Straight, Clean & Simple. Members included Larry (Apples), (Mom) Marina and Bob Macgillivray. Other band members came and went thought out the next 15 years, but the four remained the same. Bob still plays on a frequent base and has his own radio show (www.radio27.com). Frank Fara from Comstock Records released the first single for Straight, Clean & Simple and started their musical journey that would prove to be very successful, producing four albums, 15 singles and receiving back to back Canadian Juno Nominations for Country Group or duo of the year in 1992, 1993, all original music penned by Larry Lee. The band enjoyed playing and touring in many of the premier Canadian Country music Festivals along with countless Pro Rodeos, Cabarets, Dances and Special Events, such as: Big Valley Craven Saskatchewan Music Festival, Rocky Mountain Jamboree, Klondike Jamboree (Dawson City Yukon), The Netherlands (Holland), Alberta and British Columbia Cattlemens Associations, Banff Spring Hotel, Chateau Lake Louise, Heritage Park & Victoria Park of Calgary just to mention a few. Now returning to their grass roots some years later, the bonds and friendships have grown. Their maturity has added to their strong song writing skills and their Musical Heritage has brought them together to form the new and unique, original sounds, of the band simply called Vannatta.
